Set within the 44-hectare Nuanu Creative City in Tabanan regency, Oshom Bali officially opened in 2025 as the area’s inaugural luxury boutique hotel, fronting the black lava sands of Nyanyi Beach (one of Bali’s most striking stretches of coastline).

Oshom Bali - Treehouse

THE FEEL

Oshom’s philosophy is rooted in human connection manifested through low-toxicity design. Biophilic architecture, large windows, and abundant natural light all work to reduce stress. Rooms come with smart curtain systems for gentle wake-ups, meditation spaces, tea ceremony setups, and creative desks. Quirky touches include black sand-coated wardrobes, disco balls, and local natural wine. Sofas, courtyard pillars, and even room layouts are designed for flow, while the duality of Balinese Hinduism inspires the aesthetic—feminine and masculine elements in balance. One building uses soft greens and bronzes (feminine), while treehouses use charred black and emerald (masculine).

GUEST QUARTERS

This boutique hotel features 18 units in total, consisting of 11 Suites (including Royal, Ocean, Sunrise, and Majestic Haven Suites) and seven Treehouse Hideaways set amid mangroves and a serene river. Every detail reflects thoughtful design. Think planter boxes to soften concrete edges, reclaimed teak wood, water hyacinth carpets, straw and rice husk lamps, lime-wash and wax finishes for breathable, non-toxic walls. Over 30 local suppliers and artisans contributed to the design, coordinated by QUB (Crafts United Bali), which has collaborated with Balinese craftspeople for more than 15 years.

FOOD AND DRINK

The 65-seater Sunset Restaurant-Lounge pairs a curated menu of seasonal, locally caught fish, free-range meats, and organic produce with sweeping views of Nyanyi Beach. The infinity pool lies directly in front of the restaurant, making it easy for a pre-dinner swim. A bar area complements the dining experience with fine wines, crafted cocktails, and house-made kombucha. For sundowners, Lava Shack down by the hotel offers breezy beachside vibes and a perfect view of the horizon.

WELLNESS FACTOR

Wellness takes center stage at Oshom Bali. Guests can indulge in an authentic Balinese massage in two distinct settings, the Pearl Nest by the beach, where waves provide the soundtrack, or the Starfish Nest that is surrounded by tranquil mangroves. The hotel also offers sunrise yoga, guided meditation sessions, and holistic therapies. These are all set in serene natural landscapes that deepen the sense of calm.

FAMILY MATTERS

Families are warmly welcomed at Oshom. Ocean Suites can be adapted to fit extra beds for children, while the wider Nuanu Creative City provides ample options for young explorers. Jungle Kids, the precinct’s dedicated kids club and daycare, is run by trained educators. Other family-friendly highlights include the Magic Garden, Biota Lab, and Aurora Media Park’s interactive art installations.

SUSTAINABILITY CRED

Sustainability is woven into Oshom’s DNA, guided by the Japanese wabi-sabi philosophy that values imperfection and authenticity. Interiors emphasize tactile textures, natural materials, and local craftsmanship. Furnishings and bathroom products are sourced from regional artisans, while TVs are intentionally omitted to reduce energy use and foster deeper engagement with the environment. The property uses EcoCrete, a low-carbon concrete made from recycled coal waste, alongside reclaimed wood in its elevated Treehouse Hideaways.
