<h2><strong>Why stay?</strong></h2>
<p>At Four Seasons’ Jimbaran resort, serried ranks of palm-thatched villas cascade down a bougainvillea-clad hillside above the golden sands and calm waters of south Bali’s Jimbaran Bay—a mere 20 minutes from the international airport. Guests can wander from their tropical classic pool villas to the resort’s own beach club, home to Bali’s longest beachfront pool. Many pair a beach stint here with a jungle stay at the Four Seasons in Sayan, outside Ubud.</p>
<h3><strong>The area</strong></h3>
<p>Jimbaran Bay curves around the Indian Ocean in a near-flawless five-kilometer crescent of golden sand. By night, the far side of the bay comes alive with sparkling tealights as beachfront eateries grill fresh fish on shore. By day, the sheltered waters are calm enough for little ones and stand-up paddleboarders with offshore surf breaks that are ripe for beginners and intermediates. The resort’s priestess can accompany guests on trips to Goa Gong, an ancient and very sacred cave temple that’s accessed by appointment only.</p>

<h4><strong>The feel</strong></h4>
<p>Tumbling down the hillside to a rustically rocky coastline backed by that sweep of textbook-perfect bay, <em>alang-alang</em> roofs, native planting and colorful carved garden doors create a Balinese village feel. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors open onto walled gardens, serene plunge pools and thatched pavilions, while the villas’ design palette features hardwoods, rattan, mother-of-pearl, mulberry paper, and local textile accents. Dining is breezy and informal but elegant with an emphasis on sea views, while a comprehensive menu of cultural activities from blessing rituals through to <em>lontar</em> palm scripting lets guests delve into local life.</p>
<h5><strong>Guest quarters</strong></h5>
<p>Besides nine private residences, rooms span the gamut from the 1,296-square-meter Imperial Villa with three bedrooms, to 139 one-bedroom villas—all with private pools, thatched <em>bale </em>pavilions, canopied beds, roll-top baths, and both indoor and outdoor showers. Ocean-view villas feature swaths of Indian Ocean blue artfully framed by native planting, while entry through the walled garden maximizes the sense of space and privacy. Remote workers are well served, with equipment from ring lights to laptop stands available on request.</p>
<h6><strong>Food and drink</strong></h6>
<p>Making the most of the Indian Ocean vistas, Taman Wantilan perches in an open pavilion at the heart of the resort, serving up geographically diverse buffets for breakfast and dinner from interactive show kitchens. Cocktail connoisseurs will favor the Sundara beach club, which offers à la carte fine dining, artisan tipples, beachfront braziers and opalescent sunset views across the 57-meter infinity pool. With an open kitchen and its own herb gardens, the Jala cooking school serves a tasting menu of lesser-known Balinese specialties, focusing on a different region of the island every season; poolside, pastel-washed Alu delivers nutritionist-designed fare with an emphasis on poke bowls. The Telu bar brings sustainability thinking to bear on cocktails, with upcycled interiors, a reuse philosophy, donations to local charities, and a minimal waste approach—plus a cellar-style bar for cocktail classes with an impressive collection of Bali’s signature <em>arak</em> spirit.</p>

<h6><strong>Wellness factor</strong></h6>
<p>Thanks to a fully equipped reformer pilates studio, an ocean-view yoga shala, a gym, and a wide range of non-motorized water sports, fitness fans are well served. The Healing Village Spa forms the perfect complement to the sister resort, with a comprehensive menu that highlights Hindu-Buddhist traditions and Balinese techniques, such as warm compresses and traditional massage. The Illume Room, a first for Bali, elevates treatments through color therapy, light therapy, and crystals—including crystal singing bowls, crystal massage stones, and a warmed crushed quartz massage bed, all balanced with scented oils and tailored to the chakras.</p>
<h6><strong>Family matters</strong></h6>
<p>The bay is calm enough for paddling tots but undulating enough for teens to try their hands at surfing or bodyboarding. The Umah Rare kids’ club features all-wooden toys, while bigger children can enjoy cultural activities from coconut-palm weaving through to batik painting and Balinese dance.</p>
<h6><strong>Sustainability cred</strong></h6>
<p>Besides eye-catching endeavors such as Telu, the resort shuns single-use plastic, harvests rainwater for irrigation, operates recycling program and food waste donation, and sources most ingredients locally—including a sea-to-table experience where guests fish with local fishermen and prepare their catch for lunch.</p>
<h6><strong>What else? </strong></h6>
<p>Jimbaran Bay offers easy access to both of Bali’s coasts, meaning year-round surfing. The resort is a great choice for beginner and improving surfers, with further breaks a short ride away at Nusa Dua, Uluwatu and beyond. A heli-surfing package to Java’s challenging G-Land break will hit the wave-riding G-spot.</p>
