The neighborhood

Situated in the south of the island, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa sits directly on Khem Beach. Guests can enjoy easy access to powder white sands and emerald waters. Out of the entrance, guarded by enormous statues of Phu Quoc ridgebacks, guests will find shops a five minute walk away along with access to the shuttle bus for Sunset Town.

The feel

The epitome of Bill Bensley’s eclectic design talents, this secluded beachfront property is modeled around a mythical French university, but a university like no other: one with beachside pools and landscaped gardens. The architecture and interior is Indochine inspired, with a calming air, and playing on a mythical historical heritage. It’s heavily themed around the “university”, from the pictures that decorate the lobby to the student book of information that each guest is presented with on arrival, but in Bensley style manages to be whimsical rather than wacky.

Guest quarters

Choose a 53-square meter Emerald Bay room with a beachside view that can be enjoyed from the private balcony, or take the whole extended family and chill out in 1300 square-meters of impressive space in the seven bedroomed Lamarck House which comes complete with private pool that spans the width of the property and overlooks the sea. All rooms come with coffee making facilities, the grand marble bathrooms stocked with all amenities (right down to bathroom scales in case, which illustrates just how many dining options are available!).

Food and drink

Fine dining at Pink Pearl by Olivier E in a grand blush-colored mansion, where a lavish Sunday brunch is also served all day international fare and local specialities and a bountiful breakfast buffet at Tempus Fugit, to towers of jewel coloured macarons at French & Co, at the Department of Patisserie are just a few of the reasons to make use of the in-room bathroom scales…If three meals a day is not enough, guest can enjoy afternoon tea in the enclave of the resort’s impressive Indochine decor and drinks at the Department of Chemistry bar. By the beach Red Rum offers Latin American fare while private beach barbecues and romantic dinners a deux on the sands can be arranged.

Wellness factor

Chanterelle – Spa by JW, inspired by Alice in Wonderland, promises an escape from reality in all senses. Relax into the experience with a welcome drink and ease yourself back into the rest of your vacation with a revitalising ritual. From manicure to massage it’s all here, including a package just for kids. The well-equipped gym is open 24/7 with daily yoga offered too. There’s also a dedicated watersports center at the beach, near the Shell Pool, for stand up paddle, surfing and kayaking.

Family matters

Cribs and toll out beds are available in-room but where JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa scores highly for families is a well planned and seemingly endless calendar of events and activities to keep the most energetic entertained, if running along pale sandy beaches is not entertainment enough. A dedicated kids club for children up to 12 promises a host of activities, with a nanny service for under fours bookable on request (for evening babysitting too, until to midnight)

Sustainability cred

From a pure water filtration system to the JW Garden that provides vegetables and herbs to the resort, developing sustainable solutions here is an ongoing project. In 2024 the property was awarded a Green Globe certification in recognition of a commitment to sustainable development.

What else?

Just 30 minutes from Phu Quoc International Airport, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa provides an all inclusive luxury retreat from which you may not even want to leave. Butler driven buggies ensure that you can be chauffeured around the resort if you don’t want to think about walking. From cooking classes to cocktail creation and lantern making there’s something for all the family. Outside activities such as a guided bike ride to the nearby fish sauce factory can be organized by the hotel for those that want to explore further.
