Upper Seletar Reservoir Park (The Lone Tree & Jetty)

2. Peranakan Shophouses (Koon Seng Road/Joo Chiat)

This is a public residential street, which makes it a “free” location, but it requires the most “social” etiquette.

– Permit Status: Free. No official permit is required for small-scale wedding photography on the public sidewalk.
– Important Etiquette: These are private homes. Do not sit on the stairs, lean on the gates, or enter the porches without permission from the owners.

– Keep noise levels low; residents are very sensitive to the high volume of tourists.
– Avoid blocking the narrow road, as it is a functional thoroughfare for cars.
– Best Time: Weekday mornings (around 8:30 a.m.–10:00 a.m.) provide great light and fewer crowds.

3. Tiong Bahru (Art Deco Alleyways)

In contrast to the shophouses of Joo Chiat, Tiong Bahru is a public residential estate managed by the Housing Development Board (HDB) and Tanjong Pagar Town Council.

– Permit Required if: You are filming (video) with a large crew or using a tripod/lighting that obstructs the narrow five-foot ways. In those cases, you would need a permit from the Tanjong Pagar Town Council.
