In June, a new nonstop seasonal service will rekindle the connection between Southeast Asia and Australia’s remote northwest.

Located more than 2,000 kilometers north of Perth, Western Australia’s capital, the historic pearling town of Broome is not directly accessible from Singapore. Travelers headed there will need to endure a lengthy transit in Perth to reach the coastal gateway to the vast Kimberley region.

However, this inconvenience will soon be a thing of the past, as Jetstar Asia is set to fly nonstop between Singapore and Broome, slashing the current travel time by over eight hours. It will be the first international route directly into regional Western Australia since the state’s borders reopened after the Covid-19 pandemic, and offers Jetstar’s most affordable international flights into Australia, with tickets starting at just SG$125 one way. The route will provide nearly 6,500 inbound seats in the first year alone—significant for a town of less than 15,000 people.

Services are due to operate twice a week aboard an Airbus A320 from June 25 to October 26, 2024, during Broome’s dry season, and will tentatively resume in April 2025. Holidaymakers can expect a journey time of approximately four and a half hours.

On Tuesdays, Flight 3K165 is scheduled to depart the Lion City at 7:20 a.m. to arrive in Broome just before noon, at 11:55 a.m. 3K166 will then take off from Broome at 12:55 p.m. and land in Singapore at 5:30 p.m. the same afternoon.

Saturdays, meanwhile, will see a mid-afternoon departure from Singapore, with 3K167 leaving at 2:55 p.m. to touch down in Broome at 7:25 p.m. The return service, 3K168, is set to push back at 8:25 p.m. and arrive in Changi at 1 a.m. the next morning.

Accounting for over 86,000 arrivals in the year ending September 2023, Singapore ranks as Western Australia’s second-largest international visitor market. The Kimberley region is already popular among domestic travelers thanks to its postcard-perfect beaches, rugged coastline, and unique mix of tropical and desert wilderness. By improving connectivity to Australia’s northwest through Singapore, Jetstar Asia’s newest route will bring benefits to the local tourism industry, while adding an eighth destination Down Under for Changi Airport.
