The first direct service between Indonesia and Asia’s premier gambling hub is launching on October 29.

Macau’s flag carrier will be taking off for the Indonesian capital before the end of this month, reaching a previously untapped market with a population of over 275 million and a fast-growing middle class. The inaugural nonstop service to Jakarta, which is scheduled to fly four times weekly using Airbus A320 aircraft, comes as Macau seeks to attract more international visitors and diversify its sources of tourist arrivals.
Departing on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 4:40 p.m. local time, outbound flight NX910 will arrive at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 8:40 p.m. after an estimated five hours in the air. Intriguingly, the return flight will mostly be operated on alternate dates, with NX911 taking off from Jakarta at 9:40 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays to reach Macau at 3:40 p.m. local time. This new air link gives Jakarta-based holidaymakers the option to visit the Chinese territory without needing to go via Hong Kong International Airport, or transit in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, or Bangkok.
Air Macau has been steadily building back its overseas route network after several years of Covid-induced isolation, when its home base was open only to mainland Chinese visitors. Regular services to Singapore resumed in late March, and flights to Bangkok Don Mueang were added around the same time to complement existing flights between Macau and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, which are now operated daily. Following the Jakarta route launch on October 29, the carrier is said to be eyeing Kuala Lumpur as its next Southeast Asian destination.
