As soon as you step inside Virtù, it’s impossible not to be captivated by the shimmering golden interior and the moody lighting, which guides you straight to the bottle-lined counter at the back of the bar.
The selection here is endless, but gliding between bottles, the staff clearly know their way around the near impossibly long selection of spirits and liqueurs. No matter your taste, this elegant hideout is well-supplied to satisfy and surprise. Our tip, though, is to leave your fate in the expert hands of Virtù’s bartenders, who reinterpret classic French flavors and Japanese staples to create concoctions that are nuanced and diverse, like the signature Smoked Ume Fashioned cocktail, a combination of homemade brandy-fortified umeshu (plum wine), Japanese whiskey, and hinoki bitters. —Lucy Dayman
