Housed in the <a href="https://destinasian.com/readers-choice-awards/2025-winners/best-singapore-hotels/shangri-la-singapore-wins-best-hotel-in-singapore" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Shangri-La Singapore</a>, Origin’s latest cocktail menu: POV is once again a creatively innovative approach where the entire team works on the research and development, taking the familiar to intriguing new heights. The 18 drink menu (all bespoke cocktails) is memorable in itself, featuring holograms which change from each drink’s key ingredient to the cocktails.
The menu is so tempting you wish it were possible to manage all 18 cocktails in one sitting. But choose we must, for the sake of sensibility and sobriety. The Glassberry is a fitting start, a modern play on a classic martini. Clean tasting, with just the right amount of natural fruitiness, this is a clear winner. Add a drop of distilled strawberry, sake and dry vermouth one by one (or not at all) until the berry appeals to your unique taste. Nostalgia is awakened in Carrot Cake (inspired by the Western dessert, not the savory fried Asian dish). Think a marriage of cake with whisky sour, the Woodford Reserve Bourbon sitting comfortably alongside a homemade syrup of crumble, cinnamon, ginger, and roasted pecans. This is one cake you won’t want to share. Plush seating along the bar or on cozy banquettes makes this a welcoming space, where it&#8217;s impossible to stay for just one drink. —Alison Marshall
