<h5><strong>Why stay?</strong></h5>
<p>This low-rise overwater retreat on Marina Bay—unique among downtown Singapore’s luxe lodgings—is the hip counterpart to its stately elder sibling The Fullerton Hotel. Tasteful interiors by top Hong Kong interior designer André Fu balance the present with retro-glam nods to a bygone era, and the property also contains a first-rate French restaurant.</p>
<h5><strong>The neighborhood</strong></h5>
<p>Business and leisure travelers alike will benefit from The Fullerton Bay’s prime location in the financial district. A covered pedestrian bridge right outside the reception provides a shortcut to Raffles Place MRT station, while the Merlion is a mere five-minute stroll along the waterfront. Also within easy walking distance are the myriad bars and restaurants of Boat Quay, the Asian Civilisations Museum, and National Gallery Singapore.</p>

<h5><strong>The feel</strong></h5>
<p>Arriving guests are dropped off at Clifford Pier, a heritage-listed art deco structure from 1933 that once welcomed thousands of immigrants to Singapore’s shores. From here, a marble mosaic–floored indoor promenade leads to the soaring reception inside the six-story main building by locally based DP Architects. André Fu has furnished the common areas with contemporary art pieces and vintage nautical maps, while old photographs of the area are displayed in the rooms, which mostly line glass-walled corridors around a courtyard with a series of floating event pods.</p>
<h5><strong>Guest quarters</strong></h5>
<p>Warm materials and hues predominate in private spaces at The Fullerton Bay: think polished rosewood and leather armchairs the color of burnt ocher. If the irresistibly soft, fluffy pillows on the king bed aren’t to your liking, there’s a special menu to request something heavier or firmer. The limestone and yellow marble bathrooms feature a deep soaking tub and flat-screen TV, as well as Balmain bath amenities. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the accommodations in natural light, and balconies look out to either Marina Bay or the city skyline. Want to stay even closer to the water? Book one of the ground-floor Premier Bay View rooms, which boast private outdoor decks with a lounger; indoors, ultra-high ceilings and smartly placed mirrors add to the sense of space. The two Premier Bay View rooms on the corners have their own Jacuzzi plunge pool as an added indulgence. Colonial-era governors lend their names to six individually designed suites (like the Cavenagh Suite, pictured above) that nod to Singapore’s Chinese, Peranakan, Malay, and Indian heritage.</p>
<h5><strong>Food and drink</strong></h5>
<p>Chief among the hotel’s handful of eateries and bars is French restaurant La Brasserie, which offers beautifully plated bistro fare in a pair of 10-meter-high dining rooms. Highlights include truffle oil-infused wagyu beef tartare on <em>rösti</em>; Fremantle octopus with powdered chorizo in smoked romesco sauce; and herb-crusted New Zealand lamb rack in jus with buttery mashed potato, petit pois, edamame, and morel mushrooms. Dessert-lovers should try the Inaya 68% chocolate dome—a pour-over of warm dark chocolate sauce reveals the cherry compote and biscuit hidden within. The Landing Point, a colonial-inspired lounge between Clifford Pier and the main building, is popular for its high tea with dainty scones and an intriguing selection of brews from TWG Tea. (There are full teatime menus for vegetarians, vegans, and gluten- and lactose-intolerant diners.) Poolside rooftop bar Lantern comes alive after dark, when the alfresco venue buzzes with patrons who order sharing platters and drinks like the Red Lantern cocktail—a refreshing blend of tequila, watermelon, cucumber, and lime juice.</p>

<h5><strong>Wellness factor</strong></h5>
<p>A compact gym and two Jacuzzis are arranged near the 25-meter glass-edged pool on the sixth floor. For a massage or facial, you’ll have to head over to The Fullerton Spa at The Fullerton Hotel—just a few minutes down the street via a shaded walkway and pedestrian underpass.</p>
<h5><strong>Family matters</strong></h5>
<p>Children receive their own welcome amenities along with an ice-cream pass for one free serving per day. Baby blankets, pillows, cribs, and the like are available on request.</p>
<h5><strong>Sustainability cred</strong></h5>
<p>The Fullerton Bay donates used soap bars to the Clean the World program, which sanitizes and recycles them for vulnerable communities in developing countries. A farm at The Fullerton Hotel that previously supplied restaurant kitchens with various fruits, vegetables, and herbs is currently being revamped.</p>
<h5><strong>What else?</strong></h5>
<p>Guests wishing to see Singapore in a new light have a set of Fullerton Experiences to choose from. Options run the gamut from complimentary sailing excursions on Marina Bay every Sunday, to a couples’ perfume-making workshop and an hourlong sightseeing tour in a 1970s Rolls-Royce.</p>
