Don’t be put off by the tiny kerbside door of this wine shop in Joo Chiat; it opens up into a veritable cave of discovery, packing a punch both in terms of offering and wine knowledge. Opened in 2019 by a young husband-and-wife team, Germaine Wong and Elliot Braet, Bound by Wine stocks bottles from 250 varietals representing more than 45 countries. Regular weekend tastings with vineyard owners from across the world are both entertaining and informative, and an opportunity to meet other wine-lovers. It’s just the place for gift-buying from glassware to chocolate, and patrons can also enjoy grazing platters here or at home, available from the company’s sister endeavor Barely Aged. —Alison Marshall
