Why stay?

This is a Phuket getaway par excellence. Perched high above Ao Yon and part of Accor’s MGallery collection of boutique hotels, V Villas Phuket offers the ultimate in pampering and service. The luxurious villas are spacious inside and out, meaning that you really don’t have any reason to leave the comfort of their four walls.

The area

The whole point of coming to V Villas is to escape from the hustle and bustle of Phuket’s busier beaches. But you can take a short walk to the village on Ao Yon Beach, accessible by a steep staircase from the resort to sea level. After a short walk along the sand, you’ll reach a small village with a few eateries and a pearl farm that has been in the Ung family for 50 years.

The feel

Arriving at V Villas Phuket feels like coming home, albeit a home that includes your own private pool and a butler at your beck and call who will look after your every need. It’s private and comfortable, and yes, blissfully indulgent.

Guest quarters

Villas are available in one- to four-bedroom configurations. The four-bedroom residence was built to the owner’s specs, with a full kitchen, living and dining room housed in a separate building from the bedrooms. Did you say Fendi dining table? But even the one-bedroom villas are a respectable 180 square meters, and include facilities like two-seater bathtubs (get your butler to draw you a rose-petal strewn bubble bath for a relaxing end to your day). These units include a nine-meter pool and a generous outdoor terrace that’s perfect for a private barbecue or picnic. Interiors are light and airy with a daybed and bar in the living room, while the bedroom is equally roomy and has the same floor-to-ceiling windows. Even if you’re a traveler who overpacks, it will still be a challenge to fill the walk-in dressing room, which is bigger than a lot of standard hotel rooms.

Food and drink

Yon Ocean House plates up a selection of Thai and Western dishes. V Villas’ excellent Sunday brunch is served here; the spread includes an extensive array of meats and seafood straight from the grill. The adjacent lounge pours tipples like single-malt whiskies and evening cocktails. And up on the roof is the jaw-dropping Akoya Star Lounge, which is worth a trip on its own. As befits an all–private villa property, in-room dining is something really special here. With a little notice, chefs can cater to just about any request you have.

Wellness factor

The elegant spa offers a number of unique treatments like the bamboo and warm candle massage, when lengths of bamboo are rolled along your muscles for a deep-tissue experience unlike any other. José Arnel Flores, the resort’s lifestyle manager, will be your personal trainer, hiking guide, or spiritual guru, depending on what you’re after. The yoga room has a water-covered skylight that casts a soothing glow around the space.

Family matters

Butlers are on hand to babysit and arrange all sorts of games and activities from water sports to in-villa play, ensuring that children will never get bored. The resort also spoils the little ones with special menus and even kid-friendly floating breakfasts. Booking connecting villas or one of the three- and four-bedroom units mean there’s room for everyone in the family to spend time at the pool together or spread out and enjoy a bit of personal space.

Sustainability cred

From keycards made of recycled wood to beach cleanups, EV charging stations and using the heat generated by air conditioners to produce hot water, V Villas Phuket has built sustainability into every service it provides. Drinking water is filtered and refilled, produce is sourced responsibly and gardens include plants that are used in the restaurant and bars.

What else?

The resort has just acquired some land next door, so look for some exciting new villas (and a buggy path down to the beach).
