Opened in late 2022, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/thenestcocktailbar/?DestinAsian">The Nest Cocktail Bar </a>occupies a refurbished heritage building in a row of pretty Peranakan shophouses. Much of the original facade and Nyonya tiles remain, and indeed, there’s an old-world allure, with herbs and garnishes in jars displayed on the bar counter as in an apothecary, and a pool table in the surprisingly spacious back room. On the drinks menu, expect whimsical reinterpretations of classic cocktails. The Smoky Long Island, for instance, is infused with caramelized Chinese kumquat, and the Honey Martini comes with a skewered piece of honeycomb to balance the dryness. A favorite is the Mango Sticky Rice Shot made from fresh mango purée. The bartenders know their craft—customers can also request an off-menu cocktail simply by relating their taste preferences. —Dana Ter
