Even if you’ve visited the Lion City countless times, you’re bound to discover something new through a stay at The Clan Hotel Singapore by Far East Hospitality. Its name and foundational concept take inspiration from the Chinese clan associations of yesteryear, which played a crucial role in getting immigrants settled into a foreign land. Occupying a glass-walled 30-story tower on the fringes of Singapore’s Central Business District, the elegant property reinterprets Chinese culture in a modern fashion, while nodding to the history of the surrounding Telok Ayer area.
It also aims to inspire deeper cultural appreciation among all those who walk through its doors. The Clan Hotel works in close collaboration with a group of leading artisans known as The Clan Collective, regarded as keepers of Singapore’s heritage, craft, and culture. Each chosen individual embodies the spirit of community in their work, and their creations shape the stay experience for guests at every touchpoint.
Cue the commissioned installation by seasoned artist Grace Tan that takes pride of place in the lobby. Named The Pact, it comprises an arrangement of shimmering origami-like metal artworks suspended from the ceiling. Lyn Lee, founder of the Sinpopo Brand, contributed the Sesame Sablé — black sesame treats recast as French butter cookies — featured as part of the in-room amenities. The hotel has also partnered with The 1925 Brewing Co. to create The Orient Brew, a bespoke craft lager infused with the distinctive flavor of white chrysanthemum. Custom-made soap bars handcrafted by homegrown bath and body label Rough Beauty are provided in the luxurious MASTER Series accommodations, which include Premier and Grand Premier rooms.
