For its fourth outpost, Alaya Hotels & Resorts has taken over a palm-fringed sliver of land in the artistic village of Pengosekan, just south of Ubud’s town center. Opening by the end of 2025, Alaya Suites Ubud nestles among art galleries, craft shops, yoga studios, and cafés, placing guests at the heart of the island’s creative and culinary pulse.

Ubud-based practice DDAP Architect and interiors firm Riem Studio led the design, putting a modern spin on the Balinese village principle of Catus Patha—the sacred meeting point of paths, people, and dreams. The property comprises 45 suites and six villas that merge local heritage with a sleek, contemporary aesthetic inspired by the island’s cultural landscape. Each floor embodies one of Bali’s natural elements, creating an atmosphere that connects guests to their surroundings.

Craftsmanship and natural materials shape the interiors. Stone and timber meet recycled fabrics in warm, earthy tones, while handcrafted details—pottery by Gaya, banana-paper lamps, bamboo amenities, and lino-cut artworks by Balinese artist Septa Adi—add to the artisanal character. Robes and uniforms by Pithecanthropus further link the property to Bali’s creative community.

Beyond accommodation, Alaya Suites Ubud will feature two distinctive restaurants. Carbón will draw on the bold flavors of Mexico and Peru, while Baker Butcher Barista offers a relaxed all-day setting where mornings begin with coffee and pastries and flow into easygoing dining. They’re complemented by a poolside lounge and gathering spaces that carry the rhythm of Ubud into the resort.

DaLa Spa, Alaya’s signature spa brand, invites guests to explore Indonesian wellness wisdom through thoughtfully crafted treatments inspired by Bali’s natural ingredients, including sea salt from North Bali, single-origin Balinese Mansur rice, and premium arak.
