<p>In the 1960s, well before the Tsim Sha Tsui neighborhood became the shopping, dining, and entertainment hub it is today, the southern tip of Hong Kong’s Kowloon Peninsula was home to a plethora of wharves and warehouses humming with activity. It was against this backdrop that the Mariners’ Club was founded as a home away from home for seafarers and their families, complete with lodgings and social spaces. <p>Honoring Tsim Sha Tsui’s maritime heritage in a sleek, contemporary style while offering its own take on ultra-luxury hospitality, the brand-new Kimpton has welcomed discerning travelers from around the world since September, with its grand opening set for the middle of March. The property’s location down a quieter street that feels far removed from Tsim Sha Tsui’s usual bustle. And yet, it stands a mere stone’s throw away from some of the most prominent sights in town—among them the Avenue of Stars and the Hong Kong Museum of Art. Spanning an impressive 50 floors, this hotel is the Kimpton brand’s largest yet, and it prides itself on delivering human-centric hospitality through tailor-made experiences, personalized touches, and thoughtful encounters that pay heed to the finer details and cater to guests’ different needs.</p>
<p>Similarly, a distinct individuality is woven throughout the design. Behind an all-glass facade, the unique V-shaped floorplan gives the social spaces and guest rooms their coveted harbour views, while subtle details nodding to Hong Kong’s maritime history add to the sense of place—a defining trait of every Kimpton property. Red-brick walls at the arrival lobby and the 15th-floor reception pay homage to the nearby Signal Tower, which once told the time to mariners in the harbor, while hammered steel ceilings on guest room floors mimic gently rippling waves. Understated in style, each of the 495 rooms and suites command awe-inspiring views of Victoria Harbour. Some feature in-room marbled plunge baths, and their minibars come stocked with custom Nespresso pods by homegrown coffee brand Elephant Grounds, and Kimpton-exclusive chocolate bars from Conspiracy Chocolate.</p>

Coffee lounge Birdsong serves bespoke blends and fresh pastries in the morning, with the menu changing to drinks—including a special beer by local brewers Young Master—and light bites as the sun sets and evenings begin with the brand’s signature Social Hour; Hillside, led by executive chef Logan Thomas Hester, brings a worldly influence to beloved Asian specialties in a convivial all-day dining room. Expect hand-wrapped dim sum that roll out in traditional trolleys in the mornings and a third- culture approach to Asian cuisine for lunch and dinner. And JIJA by Vicky Lau presents comforting dishes inspired by the vibrant cuisines of Yunnan and Guizhou, served in a lively bistro setting.</p>
<p>The showpiece though is Swim Club, a beautifully transportive rooftop bar that captures the laid-back ease of Southern California pool culture. The stylish space of dreamy pastel shades exudes a soft glamour, complemented by an alluring cocktail program by bar director Benjamin Boyce. Those seeking a more intimate experience can stop by High Dive, a luxurious eight-seat speakeasy, beautifully adorned with Baccarat crystal, that doubles as a sophisticated listening room for quieter conversations and intimate gatherings.</p>
<p>Kimpton guests can look forward to unwinding in comfort after a day’s exploration with the soon-to-open Angsana Spa by Banyan Group. There’s also a fully equipped HYROX-affiliated gym—the first of its kind in the city—able to accommodate training regimens of the highest intensity. Another highlight is the hotel’s 20-meter-long rooftop infinity pool, heated year-round and lined with plush chairs for lazy days spent lounging in the sun with views of Victoria Harbour just beyond.
