WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THE SHANGRI-LA SUITE?

Perched on the 52nd floor, the Shangri-La Suite is glamorous and bold in its flamboyance. This two-bedroom den has 222 square meters of space for living and entertaining that make it an ideal venue for special events such as product launches, family gatherings, and soirées.

The pinnacle of a multi-year renovation that has seen much of the property overhauled, the Shangri-La Suite brings together an eye-catching collage of vintage and modern elements. Hand-tufted rugs, woven and embroidered wall coverings, and richly veined marble and onyx flooring are juxtaposed with plush furnishings and hand-blown crystal chandeliers.

The sitting room features its own cocktail bar with a jade-green marble counter; mixologists from Lobster Bar & Grill can be hired to pour craft cocktails. Seating 10, the dining room has a whimsical garden theme inspired by Hong Kong’s lush subtropical landscape. It’s complemented by a kitchen and cellar stocked with wines from one-Michelin-starred Restaurant Petrus. Island Shangri-La’s Executive Chef Uwe Opocensky can be called in from Restaurant Petrus to prepare an in-suite French meal.

Most extravagant of all is the master bathroom, which features daybeds on either side of an oversize marble tub by the window. Tucked away from the entertaining spaces, the tranquil master bedroom connects to his and hers dressing rooms featuring walk-in wardrobes, a full-height three-way mirror, and more. There’s also a separate ensuite bedroom, while a third guest room is available for booking. Both bedrooms can be converted into a private spa, gym, or office.

Other luxuries include a pillow menu, the Sleep Ritual Gong Bath, and exclusive aromatherapy products. A private butler will be on hand to perform any necessary duties, be it preparing equipment for a fitness workout or drawing a bubble bath with complimentary Tata Harper and YUN WELLNESS amenities.

AND HOW ABOUT THE HONG KONG SUITE?

Island Shangri-La’s newest specialty suite, the one-bedroom Hong Kong Suite has debuted on the 50th floor of the hotel. It expresses the property’s updated 21st-century aesthetics with a deeply Asian identity and nods to local history.

In the living room, a pair of 1870s watercolor paintings depicting sampans—both acquired from Christie’s auction house—are proudly on display. Running along an entire wall in the living room is a textured mural in the style of inkbrush Chinese landscape paintings, imagining the look and feel of Hong Kong’s natural scenery in pre-colonial times.

The color palette alludes to feng shui principles. Expressing the idea of being between mountain and sea, the living room is more coastal, while the bedroom is predominantly jade-green with botanical motifs. High-quality finishes throughout the suite include Italian marble throughout and silk wallpaper in the walk-in dressing room. At 130 square meters, the Hong Kong Suite is spacious but still intimate for two, creating the perfect backdrop for romantic stays and milestone celebrations.

Walk-in twin rainforest showers, a heated bench, and two vanity counters grace the calming spa-like bathroom, whose centerpiece is a round tub backdropped by a gleaming hand-cut magnolia mosaic. The motif alludes to royalty, as magnolia flowers were once reserved solely for Ming and Qing emperors in Imperial China.

As for other in-suite privileges, the dedicated tea concierge of contemporary Hokkien restaurant Ming Pavilion can host a special tea tasting, while it’s also possible to book chef Uwe Opocensky of Restaurant Petrus for an unforgettable private dining experience enjoyed amid the solitude of the Hong Kong Suite.
