This hospitality enterprise—whose diverse portfolio includes WorldHotels, Best Western Hotels & Resorts, and SureStay Hotels—is proving that responsibility and refinement can go hand in hand. Launched in 2023, BWH Hotels’ “Because We Care” initiative represents an integrated approach to sustainability. Grounded in three core pillars—Earth, People, and Community (EPC)—this global program embeds eco-conscious thinking into every level of the guest experience and operational framework. From reducing water usage and carbon emissions to championing waste-reduction efforts, the initiative is as comprehensive as it is ambitious.
The group is proud to announce that they have achieved the Global Sustainable Tourism Council’s (GSTC) certification across its Southeast Asia, Japan and Pakistan portfolio through its accredited partner Bureau Veritas Group. These guidelines span four pillars: (A) Sustainable management; (B) Socioeconomic impacts; (C) Cultural impacts and (D) Environmental impacts.
“This certification is more than a credential, it reflects tireless dedication and a genuine belief in the positive change we can create” says Rod Simpson, Managing Director, Operations APAC, BWH Hotels.
For BWH Hotels, this is just the beginning. The group is committed to working hand-in-hand with partners worldwide, equipping its hotels with the tools and support needed to drive impactful, lasting change.
Sustainability is no longer a niche concern—it’s a key influence on booking behavior. Today’s guests are looking for stays that reflect their values, whether that means solar-powered amenities, energy-efficient design, or community-based tourism initiatives.
By embedding sustainability into its DNA, BWH Hotels is helping to shape the future of travel. With over 4,300 properties across more than 100 countries and territories, BWH Hotels offers a path forward for more meaningful, responsible journeys.
