Ultra-luxe travelers bound for the Indonesian island of Flores now have a fitting place to lay their heads. With a name that means “green land” in the local Manggarai language, TA’AKTANA, a Luxury Collection Resort &amp; Spa, Labuan Bajo serves as a stylish gateway to the natural wonders of UNESCO World Heritage–listed Komodo National Park.
Comprising 45 suites and 25 private villas, the resort’s sumptuous accommodations have been fitted out with thoughtful amenities. What’s more, 24-hour butler service is guaranteed no matter which one you book, be it an upstairs suite or a circular overwater villa. Conical roofs on the latter take their cues from vernacular Manggarai architecture, while design details include colorful tapestries woven by local artisans.

Overwater bar Maiga! is the perfect place for sundowners, while the sea-facing Nera Lounge does afternoon tea with a uniquely local twist.

Those returning from outdoors pursuits will find rejuvenation at the newly launched Di’a Spa, whose design draws inspiration from nearby limestone caves. Its six private treatment rooms are complemented by saunas and hot and cold plunge pools; a must-try therapy is the signature Di’a Ritual for Two body massage.
On the environmental front, the resort leads a coral replanting initiative, participates in beach cleanups, and upcycles ingredients otherwise destined to become food waste.
