WHAT IS THE CONCEPT OF THE INFINITY GUESTROOM FLOOR?
Just in time for Hong Kong’s annual Art Month, which sees a flurry of world-class cultural events taking over the city every March, JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong has unveiled its new Infinity Guestroom Floor on Level 34. This remarkable refurbishment project demonstrates how art can transcend the walls of a conventional gallery to become an integral part of the guest experience.

The transformation marks the hotel’s largest and latest collaboration with acclaimed American sculptor Richard X. Zawitz, celebrated for his signature style of fluid, organic forms known as ‘Curvism’. The Pittsburgh-born, Hawaii-based contemporary artist draws on his extensive travels, his long career, and background in fine arts sculpture and Asian philosophy to present a modern take on traditional Chinese concepts of Tao and Zen. Exploring the balance between yin and yang, his thought-provoking works draw inspiration from the interconnectedness of all things.
HOW IS ART INTEGRATED INTO THE STAY EXPERIENCE?
With the Infinity Guestroom Floor, each stay at JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong promises an immersive journey of artistic discovery that highlights the brand’s strong commitment to mindful luxury. Zawitz’s inaugural commission for the hotel, The Statue of Infinity, was first installed in 2009 on a pedestal in the lobby. The highlight of the Infinity Guestroom Floor is the Infinite Child, a stainless-steel sculpture symbolizing the boundless potential of children. A miniature version of this artwork is displayed in every room and suite on the floor, while art enthusiasts can also enjoy a conceptual artbook detailing Zawitz’s journey and a catalogue of his work.

A highlight of the overall transformation is the Infinity Suite by Richard X. Zawitz. Here, Infinite Horse channels fervent energy and passion. This piece was specially created in celebration of the Year of the Horse as a tangible expression of the wish, ‘Ma Dao Cheng Gong’, which roughly translates to ‘success at full gallop’. The dynamic shapes of Zawitz’s artworks also inform the design of the suite’s bespoke furnishings, from armchairs, lamps, and bathroom mirrors to the bedside nightstands. A motif inspired by the Chinese ruyi knot adds even more visual appeal to the specialty suite.

HOW DO THE DESIGN AESTHETICS ENHANCE THE SENSE OF TRANQUILITY?
Throughout the Infinity Guestroom Floor, guests can expect a soothing aesthetic characterized by hues of cream and soft grays matched with natural wood fittings. An abundance of natural light streams through wraparound windows framing views of Victoria Harbour, the lush mountainsides of Hong Kong Island or the surrounding high-rise cityscape.
