Nestled between Chinatown and the Singapore River, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering has earned countless accolades for its pioneering “hotel-in-a-garden” concept. This architectural landmark is a marvel of energy efficiency and eco-friendliness, integrating extensive greenery across 15,000 square meters, which represents more than double its land area. Designed by the renowned architectural firm WOHA, the building’s eye-catching open structure maximizes natural ventilation and light, reducing the need for artificial cooling and lighting. High-performance glass minimizes heat absorption, keeping the hotel cool even in Singapore’s tropical climate. Cascading gardens and green terraces are planted with species carefully selected to require minimal water and upkeep, sustained by innovative rain-harvesting systems. In its design, WOHA also used Cobiax technology to reduce concrete usage, lowering the building’s environmental footprint. Additionally, energy-efficient fixtures such as motion-sensor lighting and air-to-water heat pumps help reduce electricity consumption throughout the hotel.
The guest experience at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering is equally eco-friendly. Rooms come with filtered water dispensers that provide unlimited drinking water while reducing plastic waste, and premium branded bath amenities are decanted into pump bottles made from biodegradable and paraben-free materials. Complimentary city bikes allow guests to explore their surrounds with a minimal carbon footprint, and an electric car is available for transfers. The hotel’s Go Green program is another highlight: for every guest who opts for alternate-day housekeeping to help reduce water and energy consumption, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering will plant a new plant in its gardens.

Of course, sustainability extends to the hotel’s food operations as well. Its main restaurant, Lime, promotes eco-friendly dining by sourcing locally grown ingredients. Some of these come from the hotel’s rooftop Urban Farm, which grows more than 50 varieties of vegetables, fruits, herbs, and edible flowers. Lime has also set up a new mushroom capsule, which showcases some of the sustainably farmed variations featured in its menu. Aside from the restaurant, these sustainable harvests also find their way into cocktails at the bars, tea infusions at the lounge, and turn-down amenities in the guest rooms. This dedication and commitment have earned Lime the highest-tier recognition within the Singapore Food Agency’s Farm-To-Table Recognition Programme.
