The <a href="https://www.grandlisboapalace.com/en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Grand Lisboa Palace</a> may be a long way from Italy’s dreamy Amalfi Coast where the original Don Alfonso is located, but head chef Federico Pucci does a fine job of channeling the Mediterranean at this upscale <a href="https://destinasian.com/luxury-travel/spotlight/discover-macau" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Macau</a> outpost. Hailing from Tuscany, Pucci takes Don Alfonso’s southern Italian, farm-to-table philosophy and broadens its scope while updating dishes for local palates. That means a menu big on fresh seafood but also hearty beef and other meats, with diners having the choice of à la carte or degustation. A classic dish of vitello tonnato sees discs of thinly sliced veal jazzed up with tuna belly tartar and caviar, and another classic, a dessert of tiramisu, is more like a chocolate, coffee, and mascarpone ice cream. Comfort comes in the form of paccheri pasta with a medley of seasonal seafood, and pigeon ragout wrapped in a thick roll of handmade pappardelle, while casseruola all’acqua pazza (a seafood casserole) and the bistecca alla Fiorentina T-bone steak are made for sharing. As may be expected from the flagship restaurant within the <a href="https://destinasian.com/update/palazzo-versace-macau-opens" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Palazzo Versace hotel</a>, interiors are vividly patterned swirls of baroque-rococo bling, in keeping with the style of this flamboyant fashion brand. —Kee Foong
