Sharing an acronym with its owning company Art Printing Works, A Place Where has been a thriving hangout for the city’s young, stylish set since debuting in 2014. The former printing factory turned lifestyle hub combines retail, F&amp;B, event and collaborative work spaces with a fresh and lively vibe. The visionary conversion was dreamed up by the younger generation of the family behind the property, and the spirit of its industrial past has been cleverly infused into the current design. Sections and outlets at APW are peppered with names associated with printing: Pulp serves artisanal coffee, Proof Pizza alludes to proofreading, while Bookmark, Paper, and Ink host events. (Free community yoga classes are occasionally held on Saturdays.)
Other tenants include brunch spot Breakfast Thieves and Unwined for a curated selection of natural wines; 52 Barbers provides expert grooming and shaving for men, while women can indulge in designer fashion at Khoon Hooi. A newer drawcard is Coach Play, the concept store of the New York–based fashion house. Here at APW, Coach has introduced its first interactive screen-printing service (T-shirts or tote bags can be stenciled with one of ten designs inspired by vintage Coach ads). This Coach Play outlet also boasts the largest Coach Coffee Shop so far. —Angela Goh
