Perhaps the most stylish hotel bar in town, Nautilus at the Four Seasons Jakarta is a cozy ground-floor watering hole that’s big on character and finely made drinks. Its coffered ceiling and black-and-gold design alludes to the interior of an old spice-trading ship, but with plush fittings a 17th-century sailor could only dream about. Settle into one of the arched leather-clad seating alcoves and order an Immigration Negroni—the bartenders have swapped out Campari for Rinomato, an aperitivo from Piedmont, and aged the drink in an oak barrel for two months to give it a silky-smooth texture. Another must-try is the Aegri Somnia, which blends St-Rémy brandy, sandalwood-infused Chivas Regal whisky, and coffee liquor with spices like cardamom and clove for a richly layered gentleman’s drink. (It comes in a glass dome filled with incense-like cherry wood smoke.) Now’s the time to sample these tipples while they are still available: Malaysian mixologist Julian B. Brigget has just been recruited from the acclaimed Bar Trigona at Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur, and he’ll be putting his own stamp on a reimagined cocktail program in the months ahead. —James Louie
