<h2><strong>Why stay?</strong></h2>
<p>For stylish interiors, bright modern rooms, and superb dining at a pleasingly affordable price point. The multilingual staff are tip-top and the crowd is more diverse—Thais, Taiwanese, Hongkongers, Indians, Europeans, as well as visitors from Mainland China—giving the place a more international vibe than most Macau hotels.</p>
<h3><strong>The neighborhood</strong></h3>
<p>A glass and steel concertina towering over the southern end of the Cotai Strip, the W Macau is the latest addition to Studio City and one of only two hotels in <a href="https://destinasian.com/luxury-travel/spotlight/discover-macau" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Macau</a> to be designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. The adjacent mall is a bit of a dead zone, but guests can take advantage of all of Studio City’s extensive facilities, including the figure-eight <a href="https://www.studiocity-macau.com/en/entertainment/golden-reel" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Golden Reel</a> Ferris wheel, the VR-fueled <a href="https://www.legend-park.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Legend Heroes Park</a> and the huge <a href="https://www.studiocity-macau.com/en/entertainment/waterpark" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Studio City Water Park</a> (which has been expanded to include a winter-friendly indoor section as well as outdoor slides and pools). Free Wi-Fi–enabled shuttle buses whisk guests to the ferry terminals, the airport, and downtown Macau every 10 to 20 minutes.</p>

<h4><strong>The feel</strong></h4>
<p>The glitzy W brand is currently updating an aesthetic that had become somewhat predictable and the Macau property is one of the first to sport the new look. It’s out with glitter balls and plastic sequins and in with bold geometric shapes, art deco–style light fittings and Macanese references woven into the rugs, fabrics, and artworks. Friendly, multilingual staff keep everything ticking over from start to finish.</p>
<h5><strong>Guest quarters</strong></h5>
<p>All of the rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows framing sparkly Macau views; some overlook Studio City’s Golden Reel; others face the Eiffel Tower and Big Ben (the replicas that adorn their respective casino homes at The Parisian and The Londoner). Interiors are decked out in rich blues and brushed golds, with colorful Frida Kahlo–ish murals above the beds and moody jade-green bathrooms, all with tubs, rain showers, and luscious Davines amenities. NASA-level soundproofing means you can blast music and play free movies as loud as you like without anyone banging on the walls.</p>
<h6><strong>Food and drink</strong></h6>
<p>An abstract sculpture of a golden dragon swoops across the ceiling of the W’s signature restaurant <a href="https://destinasian.com/macau-dining-diva/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Diva</a>, where Malaysian chef Yap Kim Leong puts a dynamic diasporic spin on Cantonese cuisine. Loosen your belt for irresistible plates of tangy slow-cooked pork drizzled with chili oil, Ibérico spare ribs in lime-laced cream, and Singaporean curried lobster laksa. Afterwards, segway into Blind Tiger to work your way through the bar’s impressive collection of limited-edition Scottish and Japanese whiskies. More casual options include Hawker Hawker, which dishes up an excellent weekend brunch, and the Living Room for coffee and cakes.</p>

<h6><strong>Wellness factor</strong></h6>
<p>While it would be nice to have an outdoor swimming pool for the hot summer months, the W’s indoor swimming pool is flanked by whirlpools, a sauna, and a juice bar that can be used any time of year. Next door, there’s a 24-hour gym with all the latest equipment and chirpy personal trainers, as well as male and female changing areas with sparkling steam rooms. The Away Spa bats well above average, with a concise range of scrubs, massages, and facials performed by highly experienced therapists from Thailand and Bhutan.</p>
<h6><strong>Family matters</strong></h6>
<p>The W doesn’t have any family rooms or its own kids’ club, but there are plenty of connecting rooms and easy access to Studio City’s gigantic four-story Super Fun Zone, which has everything from ballparks to rock climbing to go-karts.</p>
<h6><strong>Sustainability cred</strong></h6>
<p>With its BREEAM certification, smart rooms, and external cooling fins, the W Macau does far more than its contemporaries, which are generally dire when it comes to sustainability. Environmental analysis led to the building being repositioned to avoid damaging Macau’s 15-hectare protected wetland and ecological zone, a refuge for native mammals, birds, amphibians, and insects.</p>
<h6><strong>What else?</strong></h6>
