<p>A haven of subtle sophistication in an area known more for its unrestrained glitz, this may be the largest St. Regis hotel globally by room count, but it still feels warm and personable. Service here truly goes above and beyond; unprompted gestures of kindness may include a handwritten welcome note, flaky Portuguese tarts, and a teddy bear from a concierge. What’s more, all guests can avail themselves of the brand’s signature St. Regis Butler service. A superb cocktail bar and an elegant spa with sweeping views add to the sense of comfort.</p>
<h3><strong>The neighborhood</strong></h3>
<p>Positioned in the heart of the Cotai Strip, the St. Regis Macao occupies one of four hotel towers rising from <a href="https://www.londonermacao.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Londoner Macao</a>—a vast integrated resort that emerged from a two-year revamp in mid-2023. Parts of the gleaming interiors at The Londoner feel as though they’ve been transplanted straight from the British capital: a full-size replica of the Piccadilly Circus fountain graces a skylighted marble courtyard, while a re-created royal coach sits in another covered plaza inspired by the Royal Albert Hall. A six-minute walk from the front doors of the hotel brings you to the Macau LRT’s Cotai Leste station for journeys to Taipa Village and the UNESCO-inscribed historic city center.</p>

<h4><strong>The feel</strong></h4>
<p>Low-key elegance rules the roost at the St. Regis Macao. Its calm aesthetic stands in quiet contrast to the ostentatious mega-hotels on its doorstep. Wilson Associates—a prominent player in the hospitality design world until its sudden closure in 2021—sought to express Macau’s unique Sino-Portuguese heritage and history of maritime trade, while hinting at the New York roots of the St. Regis brand. In the arrival lobby, above the curving grand staircase leading to the reception, an undulating blown-glass chandelier nods to the seafarers of centuries past. Rooms are characterized by a muted palette of bird’s eye maple finishes, leather, and aquamarine accents, with swirling patterns in blue and gold on the carpets evoking both clouds and waves.</p>
<h5><strong>Guest quarters</strong></h5>
<p>Lead-in accommodations clock in at a spacious 53 square meters, and feature armchairs, a Bose Bluetooth speaker, and a window-side table suitable for work or dining. Cocooned in Frette bedding and linens, the plush, cloudlike beds are conducive to lazy lie-ins. Marble bathrooms have a separate bathtub and rain shower, double vanities, plus a mirror with a built-in TV screen. Sustainable bath products come courtesy of Swedish haircare brand Sachajuan, Sodashi from Western Australia, and London-based Ren Clean Skincare. Butler boxes in all rooms ensure items can be dropped off discreetly without disturbing guests. Of the 122 suites, the Metropolitan suites with Tower View are sought-after as they overlook The Londoner’s 1:1 Big Ben replica, whose LED-screen clock faces come alive with animations on the hour.</p>
<h6><strong>Food and drink</strong></h6>
<p>Dining at the St. Regis Macao revolves around The Manor, which offers a satisfying buffet of Asian and Western fare at breakfast time before focusing squarely on mod-European cuisine. Here, Italian chef Michele Dell’Aquila showcases top-grade produce from both Japan and his homeland in set menus that change twice a year. Dinners from the Celebrate Sustainability menu might include a starter of Sicilian red prawn in avocado oil and tomato consommé, Atlantic cod with Sardinian bottarga and broccolini, tender striploin finished with beef jus on a bed of fragrant saffron risotto, and a rose-shaped Pistachio mousse in a crescent of fresh berries and mini rum babas. <a href="https://destinasian.com/nightlife-the-st-regis-bar-macau" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The St. Regis Bar</a> comes into its own after dark with inventive cocktails and live music; by daytime, the second-floor venue serves up a savory-leaning high tea. (Those with a sweet tooth will enjoy the crumbly scones with blackcurrant jam and Devonshire clotted cream or Sicilian lemon curd.) Hungrier patrons should also order from the menu of bar bites: the laksa croquettes with oozy centers and Peking duck sliders in fried <em>mantou</em> are crowd-pleasers.</p>

<h6><strong>Wellness factor</strong></h6>
<p>Serviced by a private lift from the 37th floor, the St. Regis Spa bills itself the highest wellness facility in Cotai. All 10 treatment rooms, including one for Thai massage, feature a Jacuzzi tub. Spa products include a comprehensive lineup from Parisian beauty brand Sothys and Intraceuticals serums for facials worthy of a Hollywood A-lister. Down on the eighth floor are two outdoor pools and the 24-hour Athletic Club (read: fitness center) kitted out with Technogym equipment.</p>
<h6><strong>Family matters</strong></h6>
<p>In-room amenities for small children include a miniature tent, bathrobes and slippers, toothpaste and toothbrushes, and a stool so they can stand at the sink. Through a book collection known as the Astor Library, junior guests can choose their own materials for bedtime reading. While there isn’t a dedicated playroom, the multipurpose studio in the gym is sometimes converted into a kids’ club as part of the seasonal Family Traditions program. The Manor offers a children’s menu.</p>
<h6><strong>Sustainability cred</strong></h6>
<p>Eco-friendly policies at the St. Regis Macao closely follow those of gaming operator Sands China, which has reduced its carbon emissions by nearly 60 percent from 2018 levels, and aims to have branded water bottles across all its hotels to be reusable or made from sustainable materials in the near future. Staff members regularly take part in volunteer activities such as fundraisers for local NGOs, beach cleanups, as well as visits to nursing homes and seniors living alone.</p>
<h6><strong>What else?</strong></h6>
<p>St. Regis Butlers are just a WhatsApp or WeChat message away, and can be contacted at all hours for personalized requests, whether you wish to run a late-night bubble bath or need help packing or unpacking. Apart from a casino and shopping mall filled with international brands, The Londoner is also home to The Londoner Arena, a flexible 6,000-seat event space that hosts concerts for Cantopop stars and singers from other parts of Asia, plus the occasional big-name performer like DJ Alan Walker.</p>
