Derived from the Latin for “being in love,” the name of the bar at The Ritz-Carlton, Bangkok speaks of a passion and zest for life that’s exemplified by its team. Featuring a glass lotus-blossom chandelier and enormous picture windows looking out onto Lumpini Park, Caleo is as memorable for its decor as its cocktails.

Alongside the classics, the menu is inspired by six of the world’s iconic social clubs, taking guests on a journey from Les Deux Magots in Paris to Rick’s Cafe Americain in Casablanca. The famous gin drinks of the latter are reimagined at Caleo in a trio of mini gimlets, focusing on the flavors of France, Portugal, and Morocco. The tiny, ice-cold martini glasses are placed in front of guests and accompanied by a large glass bowl of ice containing mini decanters of each martini, keeping them perfectly chilled throughout the experience. Pull up to the bar or lounge on comfy sofas in jewel tones of sapphire and amber as you take in the views of the park. With a cocktail in hand, write a message on one of the custom postcards provided by the bar to someone you’d like to impress. —Alison Marshall
