Named for a collection of half a dozen short stories by Joseph Conrad, this sultry boîte is decked out in turquoise velvet couches, pink feathered lamps, hanging monkeys, and brass accents, with a specialty cocktail list themed around the 19th-century setting of each story: French Guiana, the Atlantic Ocean, Napoleonic France, and so on. (Feeling rebellious? Try The Mutiny, which muddles dark Trinidadian and Venezuelan rum with absinthe, pineapple, and aromatic bitters.) A concise but globetrotting food menu follows suit, with items like lobster and fennel ravioli, seabass ceviche, and quail escabeche.
