Kawisari Coffee Farm Shop & Eatery Bali

Indonesian/Western

This inviting spot at the entrance to Hotel Tugu Bali is an offshoot of the Kawisari Coffee Plantation, a sprawling estate on the slopes of Mount Kawi in East Java. While the downstairs shop churns out barista-crafted brews made from the 150-year-old plantation’s organic beans, the new café upstairs invites you to linger in a bright, vintage-style space accented with whitewashed brick walls, arched windows, and teak floorboards. French doors open to a pretty umbrella-shaded deck where cane chairs with floral cushions set the scene. The brunch and lunch menus have something for everyone. Homely Indonesian dishes range from soto ayam (chicken soup) to nasi campur (rice with a mix of sides), and Western favorites include smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, juicy wagyu cheeseburgers, wraps, and super-fresh salads. Check out the storyboards around the walls to learn about the history of Java’s oldest coffee plantation. —Penny Watson
