<p>Set along the sedate shores of southeast Bali, The Meru Sanur stands as a landmark wellness retreat in an area rich with history. The 15-hectare resort shares its grounds with the Bali Beach Hotel, The Heritage Collection, which was originally established in the 1960s as the island’s first luxury hotel; today, it is part of a special economic zone for health and wellness that will soon include an international hospital, medical clinics, and an ethnobotanical garden.</p>

<p>Luxury and comfort take center stage in the resort’s 184 suites, each of which comes with a private balcony or garden terrace. The interiors celebrate natural beauty, with herringbone-patterned wooden floors and rattan partitions handcrafted with meticulous detailing. Framed artworks of local flora and fauna, including the rare and endemic Bali starling, contribute an added sense of place.</p>

<p>Locally sourced ingredients elevate both Indonesian and international flavors at Arunika Restaurant. Overlooking the Bali Beach Hotel’s swimming pool and the Indian Ocean, the setting itself is a feast for the senses. The nearby Sutasoma Lounge serves a selection of cocktails and Indonesian-inspired beverages in a tranquil library setting.</p>
<p>Wellness is deeply ingrained in The Meru Sanur’s ethos, drawing inspiration from the Balinese philosophies of <em>Sekala</em> <em>Niskala</em> and Tri Hita Karana, which teaches the importance of maintaining a harmonious relationship between people, nature, and the spiritual world. Svasana Spa offers healing treatments rooted in <em>usada</em>, an ancient Balinese medicinal practice.</p>
<p>Guests can also part take in activities like yoga or holistic wellbeing programs such as sound meditation or a <em>melukat</em> purification ritual by the sea—experiences that go beyond hospitality, placing wellbeing, culture, and human connection at their core.</p>
